By Sebastien, Will S, and Wilson Weeds world growing out of a sidewalk crack near you.
Did you know that seeds travel by air, animals, water, gravity and clothes. Then you came to the right place. This month 4W did an experiment on how seeds germinate and grow. We learned how a vine grows and how a seed coat falls off when it germinates and so much more.every day we checked on our plants and recorded our observations in our science notebook. We also drew a diagram in our notebook and measured their height. We also watched a lot of videos about plants. We recently watched a video about how plants can adapt to their habitat. We learned that plants need space to grow water sunlight and nutrients. We had an assignment to grow plants and they didn't grow well because they didn't have enough room to grow. One of our classmates even brought in a spider plant. We also learned how carrots grow but it also looks kind of weird. We learned that carrots and beets have one huge root and not a lot of tiny roots. We learned that Apples start out as flowers which is really really amazing! We also learned that if a seed is tipped over the plant will still grow and come up straight. And plants can't be watered too much or it won't grow that much. We learned that in native plants can invade the native plants territory. We hope you learned a lot about plants. That's all folks. Bye! By Jalisa and Harry “Hey there! What is a bone bridge challenge?” “Ooh a bone bridge challenge is where you make a bridge. Then the challenge is how many items like rocks or penny’s you can fit on your bridge. Also you can detail it on your bone bridge with anything out of these items Tape, pipe cleaners, Popsicle sticks, Que tips, straws, clips, maybe scissors and glue. Jalisa 240 penny’s and Harry got 130 penny’s.” “Wow that's a lot of penny’s Harry and Jalisa. How did you put that much penny’s on your groups bridge Jalisa?” “Ohh what I did was use 10 Popsicle sticks and wrapped them up with tape and there were 5 of them to make it longer to win. My group made it stapled and protective.” “And Jalisa did you have it 1 inch off the ground.” “Yes Harry it was 1 inch of the ground.” And if you have a child you should let them make one if you have them to yours make the bond Bridge it's up to your choice. and if you don't have them to you then buy them like Staples. You should let your kids teach you how to make the Bourne Bridge bye. By Ariela and Elizabeth You walk into 4W. Then you spot something on the wall. What is it? Covered in sticky notes, it draws you to it, wondering what it could be. “It is the kindness wall that 4w made.” And you are going to find out many things about it.The kindness wall was started when Mrs.Weiner past out a small piece of paper with someone’s name on it out to everyone in the class. She said that we had to watch the person whose name was on a piece of paper and come up with a compliment for them, although she didn’t tell us why. After a week we had to write something nice about the person on a piece of paper. So, after a week, we had the compliments ready ( though we didn’t know it) for the kindness wall. That day we sat on the rug and shared the compliments for the people that were on our pieces of paper. Then Mrs Weiner stuck them on a bulletin board which became the kindness wall.
By Liam and Will G. You are walking on the creaky boardwalk and you see a dark figure rippling the water. “Is THAT the Lochness monster’s head?” (Cue the scary music)
“Na. That’s a turtle covered in seaweed.” Says the guide. This is the grade 4 Broadmoor wildlife sanctuary field trip. Last week, Mrs Weiner's 4th grade class took a trip to Broadmoor wildlife sanctuary and split into 2 tour groups. And each tour group got their own guide and two chaperones that helped keep track of the kids. We learned how to tell how old a white pine is by counting the levels of branches. Also, we learned that there are over hundreds of different types of leaves. Hope you enjoyed this blog and see you next month for more blog content!!! Hello! Where you’re news reporters Mia and Peter!!!!!!!!
Our topic for today is Factor Captor, a math game us fourth graders use to LEARN. Factor captor helps you find the factors you’re partner colors on the paper. Wait, it is my turn I pick number 41, so the other player got nothing because there are no factors of 41. Besides 1 but I got ] that because 1 is a factor of 11. When it is you’re turn you should pick a prime number because there are no factors the other player will get no points because it is a prime number. Ok, let's talk about one more game, pet bingo. Pet bingo is also a math game but you also have to get a question right to get bingo and earn pets. See you next month for our November blog post. By: Evelyn and Norah You see a nice clean book with pages that look as new as ever. Now you don’t know what to do, and you’re wondering if you should read this or not. You say yes. And this is where you begin. This is a VERY important October blog post telling YOU that we’ve been reading the book “Wonder” in class. Now, we’re a lot of chapters in ready, and we’re really enjoying it. "Evelyn, what’s the point of reading “Wonder”?” “Well, Norah, It teaches us a lesson to not judge a book by it’s cover. (And it’s very entertaining, too.) Back to you, Norah!” “Okay, well, I think that it’s cool that Auggie, (August Pullman) is a very unique character! Usually most books don’t really talk about someone having to suffer on the streak of dying. This book, itself, is very special!” “Very True, Norah! It is creative to write a book like this, to be honest. I can tell R.J Palacio worked very hard on this. Well, this is it for the October Blog Post, ‘cause now we’re reading Wonder!” (Both of us say this) Anyways, we’ll see you again in November!! The whole class... waiting for the next question…Suspense, silence. They were playing... Kahoot! True or false? Halloween is on the last day of October.
“YES! I got it right!” says Trevor. “Me too!” says Sam. “YES! I'm 3rd place!” says Maddie. Kahoot is a really fun BUT educational game that we love to play in Mrs. Weiner’s class. It’s not a math game or a science game or anything like that, you can choose what you want the topic to be. The last time we played it was on Halloween and it was SO fun! We all sit on the rug and look at the board, and a multi-choice question comes up. And on our chromebook screens there are shapes that are also the shapes to the multiple answers. You click on the shape to the answer that you think is right, and if you get it right you get points. If you don’t get it right it’s okay but you just don’t get points. In the end there are places and you can get 1st place through 20th place (Or how many people are playing.) 4W totally recommends Kahoot for a fun game to play at school! By Evelyn and Liam
by Sebastien & Elizabeth Global warming is a big problem for the planet and all the life on Earth. Fossil fuels, gasoline, smoke, too much carbon Dioxide, and other forms of pollution like this create Global warming. Ways to stop G.W. are solar power, recycling, plants, planting trees, and use less car transportation. Kids in some countries are skipping school to go on strike because of G.W.
We already have the solutions to stop G.W. it’s just we don't use them. So please help! Weird Fact- Sheep burps make G.W worse. When dinosaur bones rot sometimes it turns into fossil fuels and oil. By Norah, Ariela, and Leah Have you ever wondered what quiet time is like in 4W? Well, if you have, then we have the answer! First, let's take it from the top. In QT, we’re obviously Q-U-I-E-T. You are probably wondering, what do we do in QT? We basically do a silent activity, like reading or writing, or even drawing/coloring! Sometimes, we play prodigy if we’re good and not noisy. Quiet time is one of the most important parts of the day, because it’s the time when we relax, and think of what we could do after school, or at the end of the school day. What is quiet time like when we have a half day? Well, basically, the answer is just a couple words: We don’t have QT that day because we don’t have lunch and QT is after lunch. Oh! Well, it’s time for QT now! BYE! I mean, sorry, (Whisper) you’ve got to be quiet!
